As a movement focused on Serbian culture and connection, a natural next step emerged. Our crown jewel and potential turning point for Serbs everywhere was born.
But before we dive into what we created, let’s share some of the thinking — the backstory. And why it's essential.
→ The problem: 💔 Disconnect
Most young Serbs in the diaspora do want to stay connected to their Orthodox faith, culture and homeland. It seems to be part of our DNA.
But in the diaspora, you’re swimming upstream. The pressure to assimilate is strong. If you aren’t careful, without even realizing it, you begin to drift. This is starting to happen even in Serbia.
Our environment shapes us. When there’s no strong Serbian rhythm in everyday life, the ties begin to loosen.
Disconnect may start quietly, but it grows. Over time, it leads to isolation, cultural loss, and identity confusion. The emotional and spiritual toll is real. Losing touch with something as deep as your heritage — your Serbian soul — inevitably leads to melancholy, an ‘unexplained’ loneliness, and eventually… regret. Once it’s gone, it’s gone forever. That ache in your heart? 💔 It may be for your homeland, your tribe, your sense of belonging. We’ve all felt it. Time to name it.
So, what’s pulling us away?
Lack of immersive experiences. Outside of church or folklore (dance), there aren’t many places for young Serbs in the diaspora to bond. If you aren’t in a folklore group — or have outgrown it — and don’t go to church often, you will start to drift. Without structure, it’s easy to feel alone in your heritage. We need more.
Language loss. Without regular, natural use, Serbian language skills fade. And when the language goes, so does confidence — and the feeling of connection.
Tourist-mode travel. Visiting Serbia alone — especially if you don’t have family there — can make you feel like an outsider. Something needs to connect you to Serbia. Whether it’s work, study, or an immersive experience with other Serbs, the goal is the same: real connection and lifelong bonds.
